Change for a Dollar: Christian Community Development of Africa

Every weekend the people of Heartland drop a dollar or more into the Change for a Dollar water bottles located throughout the mall. 100% of the donations we receive go right back out to the community, or sometimes around the world.

Because of your generosity, we raised $487.00 last weekend! Those funds have been given to the Christian Community Development of Africa.

The Christian Community Development of Africa works with many African communities, but their primary focus is the city of Kibera, whose slums are home to over 2 million people. The houses are thrown together with whatever they can find, including mud and sheets of scrap metal (pictured below). In this neighborhood alone, there are over 20,000 orphans, an unemployment rate of 70%, and next to no schooling.

Makeshift Houses

CCDA’s goal is to break the deep cycles of poverty by inspiring, training, providing educational and spiritual foundations, and creating networks of transformational leaders who seek to bear witness to the Kingdom of God.

Thank you for partnering with this great organization. Keep dropping your loose change in the buckets every weekend and we’ll keep making change together!
