Our Theology—What We Believe and Teach About God—Is Not Innovative.

Anyone familiar with historic Christian doctrine will find that our Statement of Faith falls in the center of evangelical theology. “Evangelical” means theology derived from the evangel, or the Gospel. In other words, it is biblical theology rather than speculative theology or theology rooted in tradition. We try not to be dogmatic about matters on which Bible-based believers have held divergent views. We want our core beliefs to be centered in Christ and His message as found in and supported by the clearest passages of Scripture. More obscure doctrine or teachings with less support are left to individuals to sort out in their own relationship with God—we take no official position in these areas.

Our Mission is to Courageously Lead People Into a Relationship with Jesus.

Because Jesus came to seek and save the lost, we feel compelled to do the same. But Jesus went beyond rescuing people from hell; He wanted each individual to experience a “rich and satisfying life” (John 10:10)—in other words, to become God’s best version of themselves. At Heartland, we are committed to unapologetically and courageously leading people toward that kind of life.

Full devotion to Christ is a journey, not a destination. This side of heaven we will never arrive at “full devotion,” but at Heartland we are committed individually and corporately to the process of becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

What does a fully devoted follower look like? It is a life where the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control) is increasingly growing and flourishing. And it is a life with particular core values: we passionately love Jesus, we unconditionally trust God, we ruthlessly eliminate ego, we courageously live in grace and truth, and we selflessly extend compassion.
