We talk about groups at Heartland, but what if you don’t have people in your life with whom you can gather and grow? If that’s you, you are invited to join Pilar Peigh and my wife, Holley for a six-week small group experience here at Heartland.
Beginning this Monday evening, February 20th at 7pm or Tuesday morning, February 21st at 9am, Pilar and Holley will be opening up an environment for you to engage in discussion with other women around the Surviving Change material we’ve produced for you. This could be a great opportunity for you to connect with new friends here at Heartland.
Childcare will be available for a small fee and we’d like you to let us know if you need it. Please call us at 815-395-8000 (or contact us) and let us know which day you would need childcare.

It hurts to lose someone. Find help at GriefShare.
GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone.
The cost for the entire 13 weeks is $15 for the workbook. GriefShare meets at Heartland in Room B126 in the Launch Children’s area, with childcare provided on-site by the YMCA ($8 per child). Register below – we hope to see you there!
More about GriefShare:
It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before.
GriefShare groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements:
Video seminar with experts
Each week your GriefShare group will watch a video seminar featuring top experts on grief and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies, dramatic reenactments, and on-location video.
Support group discussion with focus
After viewing the video, you and the other group members will spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in your lives.
Personal study and reflection
During the week you will have the opportunity to use your workbook for further personal study of the grieving process and to help sort out your emotions through journaling. Your group will spend time discussing questions and comments from the workbook study.
Thousands of people have attended Marriage Matters at Heartland. Some have needed a few tools to help them through some tough times on their way to making their marriage better, and many marriages have been saved.
If you’re having marital issues or just want to make your marriage better, come to Marriage Matters. Or if you know someone who marriage needs some help, let them know about Marriage Matters. They don’t have to call Heartland their church home to attend.
Here’s what to expect during this workshop:
Each session meets from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings. Participants sit at round tables for about an hour of teaching followed by a small group discussion. Marriage Matters was originally designed for marriages that are struggling or even in the ditch. Many couples come out of the workshop with renewed hope. It is also great for people who just want their marriages to be better, even for engaged couples. You are welcome to come by yourself if your spouse is unable or unwilling to attend with you.
There is no cost and childcare is available for a small fee. Some people hesitate to admit their marriage is in trouble and fear that they would show up the first night and it would just be them and a few other couples. In reality, more than 3,000 people have come to Marriage Matters and each time we offer it, about 100 people attend.
Marriage Matters meets Tuesday nights at Heartland in the South Auditorium starting April 11th. There is no cost to attend.
Over 1,000 people have been through the Rebuilders workshop at Heartland, a workshop in a teaching/discussion format for people who have been through a divorce. It is not designed as a support group for people to get through the pain and early stages of a divorce, rather it’s for people who have gotten past the initial trauma of the divorce and are ready to take an honest look back at the marriage that failed to see what they can learn from the mistakes they made.
67% of divorced people will get married again and most will make the same mistakes in the second marriage that led to the breakdown of their first marriage, unless they take very intentional steps to make changes. Rebuilders is there to help them make those changes.
If you’re ready to start rebuilding your life, register here and come Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Child care is available for a small fee. Rebuilders meets in the South Auditorium of Heartland.
Clases de inglés en Heartland Community Church! Bienvenidos a todos!
Para más información, contactar a Faith: 815-979-7346. Se habla español. Favor dejar mensaje.
There are thousands of Hispanic families within a few miles of Heartland. The ESL ministry seeks to provide a service to the Hispanic community by offering free access to English instruction and practice. Adults with any level of English competency are invited to join the group. This is one way Heartland Espanol loves on our community and hopes to help Spanish speakers find and follow Jesus.
Volunteers are needed in two specific areas:
Language helpers interact with learners to help them practice the skills taught in the class. We need both table leaders and assistants. It’s a great way to meet new people and make friendships.
NO Spanish needed.
NO teaching experience required.
Childcare helpers play with their children while the parents are in class. This is the first year we are offering childcare and we think it will make it much easier for students to attend class consistently.
NO Spanish needed.
ESL classes start January 19th and will meet every Thursday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Heartland in the A-100 room. This session will be 11 weeks long.
Visit our Celebrate Recovery Page for more information.
At Heartland, we believe groups are critical for our health and growth. The problem is that you may be struggling with how to connect with other guys. We’re here to help.
Starting Saturday, February 25th at 7am, we’ll be meeting at Chick-Fil-A for free coffee and great discussion around our teaching series, Surviving Change.
This could be the beginning of an amazing adventure in your life. Don’t let it pass you by. I hope to see you Saturday the 25th at 7am at Chick-Fil-A, on Perryville just north of East State Street.
