We get a lot of letters at Heartland. This is one that we thought we needed to share with you…

Dear Compassion Ministry,

I wish to thank everyone who is involved with the compassion ministry. I cannot begin to express my gratitude for the vehicle that was given to me and my children. Life has been rough as I now face the obstacle of being a single mother of five. I have three boys and two girls. I have not been able to drive my family around for seven months!

We were all bursting with excitement when we drove, all together, for the first time in a long time. Heartland has been a life changer for me.

I love that there are some many ways to get involved. My children and I come for service on Sundays, Freed-Up on Thursdays and Celebrate Recovery on Fridays. I was captured right away by all the people that put Christ first and sacrifice time and resources to simply help others and spread God’s love! I know that when I attend service that I am doing more than just “going to church”. I know that I am part of a community of givers. People that give so much back to the world, within the church and reaching far beyond.

I love how welcoming Heartland is to everyone. It didn’t take me long to realize that, as a member of Heartland, I am part of something GREAT!!! As I gain more stability in my life I plan to get even more involved and have even signed up already to volunteer in small ways. With five children under 12 we are a very busy family. But Heartland makes it easy to give back with flexibility. This vehicle has provided my family with reliable transportation and it’s a huge comfort to me knowing that I can get my family to where we need to go, including coming to church.

The reliability and security I have gained is priceless but there is something much greater that came with the vehicle. It was the act of love that was expressed by so many that truly hit me hardest. So many people that work behind the scenes whom I did not meet face to face. There is so much care put into the vehicle to make sure it is safe and reliable. They took the time to set the radio to local Christian station, which was an awesome touch. I am blown away by the love, sacrifice, and generosity of so many.

I was given so much more than a vehicle that day. I have hope for the future. I know that , no matter what life throws at me next, that I am part of a great community of selfless givers. That I have an emotional security in knowing that there are people at Heartland who care and who will listen and spiritually guide to the best of their ability. I am deeply inspired to do more, give more and love relentlessly. Each and every time that I drive in my vehicle I feel as though I am wrapped in God’s love!

I hope that this letter reaches all that were involved so that they know that their sacrifice is appreciated. Thank you all for being there for me during these rough times.

God bless all of you,

Danielle P.
