We received $595.00 last weekend to make Change for a Dollar, and it was gifted to Project Lilac, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing personal hygiene products to women in crisis. RSAC (Rockford Sexual Assault Counseling) refers women to the organization. Project Lilac exists to serve low-income, single moms or women who have fallen on bad times and are unable to afford personal products.

The picture to the left is with the family that Change for a Dollar supported a few weeks back. Their home was destroyed by the flooding in central Texas last month. The mother and son (the 2nd and 3rd from the left) attend Eikon Church.
Eikon is partnering with Austin Disaster Relief who trains local churches and other organizations in disaster relief, rehabilitation, and development principles. They trained Allies from Ekion to connect to the family to walk with them long term (these are the other ladies standing in the picture).
Ekion is a young church plant of 1.5 years. The week during the floods was their first week of services in a new venue. They sent out mass communications canceling services stating: ‘Let’s don’t just have church, lets be the church.’ When I met the mother at services last week she told me in tears that ‘Every day she is so thankful to God and her new found family at Ekion.’

Last weekend we received $635.45 that was gifted to Children’s Safe Harbor.
Children’s Safe Harbor provides a safe place for families to use when exchanging children for visitation or for those who are in need of supervised visitation services. Change for a Dollar will go to help fund resources that will support relational interaction for parents and their children during these visits.
